Job Description

AECOM is searching for a Project Manager – Civil/Water Resources Engineer for full-time employment based in our Sudbury, ON office.

We are looking for an enthusiastic engineering project manager that has an understanding and significant experience in civil and water resources engineering, civil technology and construction management principles and is very familiar with the design and construction of municipal infrastructure. They will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers. They will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and display drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done. They will be expected to support in the delivery of infrastructure to customers mostly within the municipal water, wastewater and storm water sector.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Working knowledge of water / wastewater / drainage conveyance infrastructure in a municipal environment.

  • Lead and support the design of civil systems associated with municipal water and/or wastewater /drainage conveyance systems.

  • Perform constructability reviews.

  • Prepare documentation for design projects and reports.

  • Prepare construction cost estimates.

  • Preparation of project specifications and contract documents.

  • Additional responsibilities will include client communication and management on engineering matters, including compliance with government laws and regulations; lead and assist with proposal preparation; contract preparation and negotiation; coordination with regulatory agencies; project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.

  • Manages portfolio of clients with multiple projects.

  • Responsible for delivering revenues assigned from specific clients as a result of repeat business caused by flawless execution of projects.

  • Consistently delivers profit margins planned.

  • Consistently completes project without write-downs or multiplier erosion.

  • Typically manages projects involving RTF (Risk Triggering Factors).

  • Manages more complex clients and projects.

  • Has decision-making authority and directs other Project Managers in recognizing risk and uncertainty with plans to mitigate and eliminate such.

  • Directs staff to operate and minimize exposure to claims.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental + 6 years of experience in municipal planning, design and construction of municipal water infrastructure related projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Demonstrated experience with storm water management and flood mitigation

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario or eligible to register within 6-12 months

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Municipal Water/Wastewater Project Management experience

  • Experience in Ontario is considered an asset

  • Good working knowledge of industry standard and local municipal standards and guidelines are considered an asset

  • Proficient in common desktop packages, i.e. Word, Excel, MS Project, MS PowerPoint

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills

  • Motivated, team player, independent, organized with strong business acumen

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Experience with business development

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $95,000.00 – $150,000.00.
