This is an exciting opportunity to join an amazing team at the Grande Prairie Cancer Centre (GPCC) and the dynamic team of Cancer Care Alberta (CCA) Educators across the province. With the impending implementation of connect care, the recent opening of GPCC, the rapid pace of change in cancer treatments and always evolving best practices in oncology, this is a great opportunity for an experienced oncology nurse and/or educator. CCA is also working on ensuring the creation of a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for Indigenous patients and families, and others from diverse backgrounds. This work is critical in Grande Prairie and an educator is a key leader in the delivery of patient-centred care. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are required. You will need to bring your passion for patient-focused care, evidence-informed practice, engaged learning and leading excellence in cancer care to this role.

Description:
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years experience in oncology nursing. Experience as a clinical educator. Demonstrated excellence in communication, interpersonal skills, teamwork and project organization. Stellar ability to conceptualize, identify gaps in staff training, and plan to teach and engage staff. Demonstrated exceptional communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Nursing, Education or Leadership or degree in progress. Completion of O-prep courses, Foundations 1 and 2 and the Biotherapy course. Experience with Connect Care would be an asset.
