Upper Grade Teachers

Upper Grade Class Teachers 2023-2024 (Grade 8 and Grade 9)

The Nelson Waldorf School is currently seeking applications for Class Teachers for grades 8 and 9. The positions are available for the 2023–2024 school year, with the contract beginning in August 2023.

The Class teachers should have a passion for Waldorf education and should inspire the love of learning in youth. Key qualities are strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment. With the responsibility of carrying a class of up to 24 students, the successful candidate will have excellent class management and organizational skills.

The responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

• Deliver the grade 8 or 9 Curriculum integrating BC Ministry requirements and Waldorf curriculum
• Report on students according to Faculty agreements and BC Ministry requirements
• Abide by BC Independent School teacher conduct and competence standards
• Lead class parent conferences

Reports to: Principal of School

Terms of Employment: Permanent, full-time; $50,000 base salary plus benefits (health, disability, life insurance and tuition) and increments for related experience.

Education and Skill Requirements:
BC Teacher Certification
Completed Waldorf Teacher Training with a clear understanding of Rudolf Steiner’s education and philosophy will be preferred or willingness to take the Waldorf training.
