Thunderbird Partnership Foundation is a national non-profit organization serving First Nations in mental wellness. Our mandate is set by three frameworks:

1. Honouring Our Strengths: A Renewed Framework to Address Substance Use Issues Among First Nations People in Canada

2. Indigenous Wellness Framework

3. First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum

Our core stakeholders are First Nations communities and the network of First Nations adult and youth treatment centres. To support our mandate, Thunderbird has two office locations: one based in a First Nations community in southwestern Ontario, and the other in the city of London, Ontario. This position is a remote work position.

Position Summary

The online Training Coordinator will support the expansion of Thunderbird Partnership Foundation’s e-learning training platform and support multiple and different projects under the direct supervision of the training and education manager. The online Training Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, administration, and delivery of online training programs including tracking, monitoring and reporting on the programs and make improvements where appropriate. Ensuring continued effectiveness to the Thunderbird Partnership, the Training Coordinator demonstrates interest and commitment to set and achieve professional and personal development goals.

Your Opportunity

As the Thunderbird Partnership Foundation Training Coordinator, you will

· support the training and education team in the development of instructional e-learning courses and training programs to enhance training and learning to meet the needs of stakeholders and partners

· assist the team in the selection, development, and use of educational technology; and coordinate the training and technology-related activities

· support the vision, mission, and mandate of the organization through demonstrating an awareness of the impacts of addictions and mental health within an Indigenous context and social determinants of health and apply this understanding to the requirements of the online training platform

· conduct necessary research to ensure the methodology of communication tools and messaging is appropriate to the various stakeholder groups of the organization; convey and receive information and ideas through a variety of media

· coordinate with the training and education team to improve learning and training by applying instructional development processes; including efforts to design, modify, and evaluate multimedia, Internet and video instructional packages, multimedia modules, and other instructional media

· maintain thorough and up-to-date knowledge in the fields of information technology and instructional design, with reference to the Internet and multimedia technologies.

· support the implementation of the training and education e-learning program by providing evaluation through overseeing and maintaining records, and preparing qualitative and quantitative reports and working with the team towards refinements of the training/education programs

· assist in the implementation of the virtual community of practice maintenance for training stakeholders

· work on a team with others like yourself who are dedicated to work which has real value and meaning in the lives of others

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

· Master’s degree in Instructional Design; Education/Adult Education or related field AND four (4) years of progressively responsible coordinator program experience

· Fluency in a First Nations language is a definite asset

· Knowledge of First Nations traditions and customs including natural healing is a definite asset

· Strong interpersonal, relationship building and conflict resolution skills

· Hands-on experience coordinating multiple training / education events and environments

· Extensive knowledge of instructional design theory and implementation

· Knowledge of learning management systems and web/digital delivery tools

· Proven ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate)

· Familiarity with best practices and techniques experience with e-learning platforms

· MS Office proficiency

· Advanced organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments

· Strong communication skills

· Creative problem-solving skills

· Excellent oral, written, analytical and technical skills

· Strong organizational and planning skills

· Ability to function autonomously, to be flexible and adaptable to change

· Ability to effectively maintain confidentiality and privacy of people supported through appropriate communication and record keeping

· Ability to access work sites not accessible by public transportation

Currently, work is being done remotely. When employees are onsite, there is a rotating schedule to minimize the number of employees in office All employees prescreen before entering the office, wear masks and physically distance.

Education:

  • Master’s Degree (preferred)
