About Our Opportunity

As the Technical Architect – Security Operations Center/Network Operation Center (SOC/NOC), you will be reporting to the Manager of Operations within the User Centered Technology and Cyber Security division of Nova Scotia Digital Services.

The goal of this team is to continue to advance the maturity of the SOC/NOC within areas such as roles and responsibilities, tools, incident response, monitoring, and reporting. The team will take an agile approach to their work by identifying and developing those areas that provide the greatest value on advancing SOC/NOC maturity.

Primary Accountabilities

The Technical Architect – SOC/NOC will be well versed in the operations of both a SOC and NOC. They will enhance the framework for this team and further the guidelines, policies, and operating model through consultation with their stakeholders. As a senior technical member of the team, they will coach and mentor the NOC and SOC Specialists in their individual disciplines and help create a cohesive high performing team. Responsibilities will include but not limited to guiding the evaluation, implementation and growth of key tools used in the NOC/SOC, defining and optimizing processes and procedures in use by the team and their organizational peers, and leading the teams technical response to events.

Additionally, the Technical Architect be required to provide backup and escalation support to both the Technical Specialist – SOC and Technical Specialist – NOC.

This position be required to provide after hours on-call support or over night shift work as the NOC/SOC iterates and matures.

Qualifications and Experience

As the successful candidate you will have a bachelors degree in Information Technology plus five (5) years related experience; or graduation from a recognized Information Technology Program plus five (5) years and six (6) months related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience be acceptable.

In addition, you have:

  • Working knowledge or experience in a Network Operations Center and Security Operations Center
  • Working with network and security monitoring tools
  • Analysing network and security data
  • Troubleshooting and documenting incidents
  • Providing project status updates to stakeholders

The following will be considered assets:

  • Relevant certifications in Cyber Security and Networking

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Pay Grade: PR 17

Salary Range: $3,001.65 – $3,525.41 Bi-Weekly
