Course Title and Course Number: NUR1 423 Leading Change: Policy and Practice (BNI on-campus)
Estimated Number of Positions: 1 or 2 positions for BNI program (on-campus)
Total Hours of Work per Term: 180 hours (can be split in two – 90 hours each)
Dates: January 4 – April 13, 2023

Job Description: Under the supervision and in collaboration with the course coordinator, the teaching assistant (TA) will help engage and teach nursing students on the issues of policy and professional practice in healthcare. TA will review course content, support in-class teaching whenever necessary, facilitate group discussions, participate in student evaluations, and assist with scheduled course activities.

The TA is available for student questions via emails/Zoom/in-person and may support course coordinator with office hours. This course is delivered in-person.

Salary: $33.03/hour

Current Masters or Doctoral student at McGill.

Health care policies and current healthcare landscape knowledge expected.

Graduate teaching experience an asset.

Previous experience as a TA.

Facilitation experience in workshops & discussions.

Aptitudes in managing technology, especially remote conferencing software (Teams/Zoom) an asset.

Please note that given the resumption of most in-person teaching activities in the Fall, Teaching Assistants will be required on campus to perform their tasks in person.  Should government restrictions prohibit the resumption of in-person teaching activities, courses will revert to remote teaching. In the event of such a change, Teaching Assistants will be advised as soon as possible.  Teaching Assistants may be required to perform tasks suited to a remote/online teaching environment using a virtual learning platform [e.g., Zoom, WebEx] and the McGill myCourses learning management system.
