HYBRID: This is a hybrid role (remote & in-office) as the hiring team will require the student to come to the Markham office approximately 2 to 3 days a week. COVID-19 protocols are being strictly followed.

About the Department:

The Software Program Management Team supports the delivery of the next generation of AMD Gaming Radeon Technology Products as well as our Cloud & Virtualization software into the Data Center to enable our key Cloud Software Partners! Our Team focuses on on-time delivery of software that supports AMD’s Products and new technologies. We plan schedule and resourcing, execute and monitor Programs in accordance to the software development lifecycle, provide status reporting, and actuals to stakeholders and key decision-makers.

Job purpose:

This role will own delivering the required Software Drivers to support the New Product Introduction (NPI) of the next Generation AMD Radeon Gaming and Workstation products, and/or focus on delivering the SW required to enable our leading Cloud partners! You will support complex software development, plan its deliverables and then track its execution all the way until Launch. Under your Program Manager’s mentorship, you will work with talented and creative Software Engineers to create the future of Gaming, Workstation and Cloud SW!

Key Responsibilities:

Scope technical feasibility of new Products by clarifying and analyzing requirements with SW Architects, Technical Leads and SW Engineers

Work with SW Functional PMs to translate the Technical requirements into SW Functional Specification and decompose the work

Build a SW program schedule by considering various Driver and SW Stack component dependencies, negotiate and create a Staffing Plan that supports the schedule

Support SW Technical Leads and key Engineers to drive technical innovations in pre-Silicon verification using a variety of validation tools

Track Features Enablement progress by comparing the actual progress against the plan

Report Progress weekly to SW Management and drive corrective actions when required.

Drive Driver quality with respective SW Teams to achieve zero defects in production code

What you gain:

Visibility into sound Program Management methodologies, software engineering practices and processes, organizational and teamwork/behavior, effective collaboration, and communication

Understanding the NPI Product Life Cycle from Concept to Production

International experience working with global AMDers across the globe

Experience in cross-functional Core Team settings, supporting Core Team PM and work with HW Teams, Diagnostics and Manufacturing to complexity of AMD NPI Products!

Skills and Experience Requirements

Technical:

Engineering background, preference in Electrical or Computer Engineering

Combination of strong Technical background with interest in Program/Project Management

Strong understanding of Computer architecture with exposure to Device Drivers, Firmware, Graphics technology

Experience with Microsoft Project or other planning tool an asset

Experience with JIRA, Confluence and MS Teams an asset

Process-Oriented:

Mindset for project management and software development lifecycles and processes

Good understanding of requirements management, documentation management, and defect management

ability to grasp concepts during discussions and turn minutes into action items

Able to communicate concepts and processes with stakeholders

General:

Analytical, self-motivated, organized, detailed oriented and results-oriented

Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with multiple people and teams, ability to communicate progress to team members on a regular basis

Experience working in a high-pressure environment and competing priorities and tight turnaround times

Understanding of the semi-conductor market and experience in its respective technical customer support an asset

Preferred Disciplines:

Computer or Electrical Engineering

Management Science option as asset
