We started Preventous Collaborative Health in Calgary in 2007 with one goal: making people as healthy as they could and keep them at peak health for as long as we could. We fought to redefine health as something more than just the lack of disease, and helped people embrace the concept of health as a state of overall physical, mental and metabolic health, where one feels at the top of their game, performs at their best and is proactive in taking ownership of their healthy journey.

A few years in, we expanded our passion for healthy aging into the aesthetic medicine space — With the goal of helping people look as good as they feel and maintaining their skin health. Preventous Cosmetic Medicine was born as a small part of the Collaborative Health business, and has since grown into a two-locations elite medical aesthetic clinic with a stellar reputation, a roaster of all-star providers, and a wide range of offerings, including injectables for facial rejuvenation, energy-based devices such as lasers and non-surgical body contouring, as well as medical-grade skincare, peels, facials, etc. Our Medical Director, Dr. Bissoondath, is now the President of the Canadian Association of Aesthetic Medicine; he has devoted his career to helping people understand and embrace the art of delaying the onset of aging through a combination of Preventative Medicine, Aesthetic Medicine, and — as of lately — Precision Medicine.

Preventous currently operates two divisions, soon to be three: Preventous Cosmetic Medicine, Preventous Collaborative Health, and Preventous Precision Medicine (latest addition to the brand umbrella).

We have experienced a significant growth in the last two years, and we have expanded our Marketing Department accordingly.

Your Team and Role

As our Social Media Strategist, you will be part of our Marketing team (also known as “The Marketing Unicorns”), a small — but mighty! — dedicated team of professionals (in-house, with a few outsourced partners) who advance the goals of Preventous through strategic marketing and communications tactics, including but not limited to: content writing for online and offline channels, social media, PR releases, media pitches, storytelling, events, email marketing, partnership/influencer marketing, marketing collateral, webinars, stakeholder interactions, inbound content marketing, and more.

Your role leads strategy, content creation and community engagement for all of Preventous social media channels. Currently, this includes the following:

  • Preventous Cosmetic: Instagram, Facebook, (likely adding TikTok), Youtube
  • MdSkinShop (our online store for medical-grade skincare): Instagram, Facebook, (definitely wanting to add TikTok)
  • Preventous Medical: Instagram, Facebook, Youtube
  • Preventous Precision: (TBD, likely Instagram, Youtube to start)

Due to the different landscapes of the Preventous brands, not all these channels will be managed at the same capacity. Your focus and effort will likely be distributed heavily towards the Cosmetic and MdSkinShop channels, with 15% or so of your time allocated to Preventous Medical, and 25-30% of it going towards Precision Medicine in the future.

Get ready to make your mark by developing and activating a comprehensive social strategy, writing and designing content (including videos), keeping an eye out for relevant conversations, engaging our social media audiences, and organically growing our following and outreach capacity.

As Social Media Strategist and content creator, you must possess exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. Creativity is a must, and wiz-level skills with video content will no doubt give you bonus points. We ask that you have proven experience leading the development, management and implementation of social media strategies to enhance awareness, promote topic-specific education, and are skilled in creating compelling CTAs. As a brand ambassador, we would love for you to embrace the Preventous values and be an agent for change both internally and externally to the organization — helping us drive our mission to create healthier, happier, longer lives.

How You’ll Contribute:

  • Work with leadership and the marketing team to develop a thoughtful strategic content plan for Preventous social channels with a goal to engage, create conversation, grow audiences and meet business objectives.
  • Oversee and sustain the editorial content calendar for Preventous social channels, in-line with the overall marketing strategy.
  • Create content opportunities and work with key partners to develop engaging co-branded content.
  • Support the launch and roll out of the Precision Medicine brand platform across all social channels.
  • Research and build partnerships with social creators and influencers to become Preventous/healthy aging ambassadors.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team, staff, and all necessary stakeholders to create cross-media and multimedia content that engages and informs (infographics, GIF’s, video) for various platforms
  • Explore the viability of adding new social tools and platforms to Preventous’ social complement.
  • Work with the medical and cosmetic staff to develop clinically supported copy and collaborate on shared editorial initiatives.
  • Carry out day-to-day community management and engage with other accounts through comments, shares and live online conversations.
  • Manage/respond to sensitive posts and direct messages (or take ownership of delegating to the appropriate team member).
  • Routinely analyze the performance of social media channels and edit content, timing and moderation strategies and tactics to optimize engagement and deliver content that best speaks to audiences.
  • Create KPIs reports for the Marketing and Leadership teams to inform the overall strategy and give an evidence-based foundation to our social media efforts.
  • Support with the amplification and promotion of events and key moments in the editorial calendar
  • Be Proactive in looking out for social media trends and changes in algorithms, updates, etc — in order to always maximize efforts and performance.

What You Need to Be Successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, or related field OR significant hands-on experience with social media.
  • A natural storyteller with excellent writing skills and the ability to adapt strategies and communications based on trends.
  • Expert knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, TikTok and other social media best practices.
  • A keen eye for creating video content for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Youtube.
  • A passion for healthy living and/or beauty/skincare. (Or both!)
  • Relationship-first approach and experience supporting projects in cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in visual editor tools (e.g. Adobe Suite, Canva, PremierePro or other video editing software, including app-native editors such as TikTok) (you don’t need to be proficient in ALL of these! If you have a few you are confident working with, and you’re comfortable with cross-media content production, you’re all set. We’re also happy to support further education and development).
  • Experience reporting and analyzing data to identify trends and opportunities
