Position Description

The Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary invites applications for a Sessional Instructor to teach SGMA 217 LEC 01 in Spring 2023:

SGMA 217: Introduction to Business Skills
LEC 01 Tuesdays & Thursdays 09:00-11:45
LAB 01 Friday 09:00-11:45  

Classes in the Spring 2023 semester run from Wednesday, May 3 to Thursday, June 15, 2023. Registrar Scheduled Exams will take place between Monday, June 19 to Wednesday, June 21, 2023, if applicable.
The calendar description of the course:
Introduction to the external business environment, human resource management, and marketing. Topics will include ethical decision-making, teamwork, secondary research, proper use of business communication tools and presentation skills. Pedagogical approaches may include case analysis, exercises, simulations, and class discussion.
Qualifications:

  • A graduate degree (MBA, MSc, DBA, or PhD) is required.
  • Minimum of three years of work experience in a relevant field (strategic management, human resources, marketing, sustainability, consulting) is required.
  • Significant experience with the target age group (i.e., high school or first year University) is required (e.g., advising, counseling, and/or teaching introductory undergraduate courses).
  • Previous post secondary teaching experience is required.
  • Previous experience in teaching this or similar courses is required.
