Position Description

The Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary is looking for a sessional instructor to teach KNES 244  ‘Sociology of Movement Cultures’ in Spring 2023.

KNES 244 Course Description:
This course is an introduction to sociological perspectives on movement cultures (e.g., sport, dance, physical education, exercise and fitness), with a particular focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Please note that the method of instruction for this course may be online. Applicants must have experience delivering courses in a remote setting, which includes evidence of successful use of online lectures, student participation channels and assessment methods.  

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Instructor of record for the course including all grading and instruction.
  •  Strong proficiency with online instruction tools (e.g., Zoom, Yuja, D2L, etc.)
  • Other assigned duties.

KNES 244 – Sociology of Movement Cultures    

The successful candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in the related field with advanced expertise in Socio-Cultural Aspects of Sport.
