Job Summary

As an IT Manager, you will be primarily responsible for managing and developing the team that supports the day-to-day IT hardware and software used throughout Distech Controls. The individual in this role is proactive, autonomous and has, in the past, demonstrated resourcefulness and ability to resolve problems related to computer systems. The ideal candidate must have a solid technical IT background and be able to work with the business to understand their IT needs and effectively communicate IT solutions to meet those needs. They should possess excellent customer service skills, be able to coach and motivate their team, as well as managing and driving projects that require IT contributions while also respecting deadlines, costs and the quality of service required by users and management. The individual’s professionalism and dedication will contribute to maintaining a stable network and user satisfaction.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

User support and incident resolution

  • In charge of network administration in a Windows environment (10 & 11)

  • Manage a team that provides level 1 and 2 network support to users (internal and external) and manage it via the ticketing tool.

  • Responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of computers, updates, software, peripherals, etc.

  • Installation and/or support of application software (ERP, office automation, etc.)

  • Basic hardware maintenance (Bios, HD, peripherals, etc.)

Network Management/Computers

  • Responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the network and data backups (schedule/backup)

  • Evaluation, recommendation and purchase of computer, network, software, and peripheral products

  • Management of printers

  • Monitor system logs and performance indicators: daily reports, server status, monitoring, maintenance, and upgrades.

  • Ensure network security with anti-virus programs and firewalls.

  • Ensure LAN/WAN monitoring & optimization

  • Provide administration, management, inventory and related documentation.

Telephony

  • Ensure the administration and management of telephone systems and related applications

  • Ensure the support and management of wireless solutions (cellular)

  • Be in charge of moving, adding or modifying telephony and wireless users

  • Videoconferencing

Skills and Minimum Experience Required

Essential

  • College diploma (DEC) in computer science / AEC in network management

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar position – System and server administrator for Windows Server 201x, 2022 and, Active directory, VMware

  • Autonomy, leadership, initiative and ability to deal with challenges, priorities and stress

  • Good problem solving methodology and attention to detail

  • Demonstrate resourcefulness, autonomy and great dynamism

  • Rigorous, diligent and demanding in the quality of service to users

  • Respectful

  • Good communication skills

Important

  • Experience with routers, switches and firewalls

  • Experience with Microsoft server environment and Active Directory

  • Experience with TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, WLAN, VPN technologies

  • Ability to set up and follow project documentation

  • English and French read, written and spoken

Assets

  • Microsoft or telecom certification

  • Experience in SQL server management

  • Knowledge of VoIP
