The Senior manager, Data analytics solution & activation role in the Digital Data & Analytics team at Scotiabank is designed for individuals with a curiosity for deriving insights out of data and applying them to address business opportunities.  

 

In this role you will: 

 

  • Lead product vision and roadmap for data analytics solutions/products in digital channels. 

  • Share knowledge and expertise with team members, providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members. 

  • Manage shifting priorities, limited resources, and dependencies; change direction quickly when necessary. 

  • Engage with stakeholders across the organization to gather requirements, provide updates, and align on priorities. 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, building strong relationships and understanding their business objectives. 

  • Present results to business line stakeholders and help implement real data-driven changes. 

  • Prepare detailed documentation to outline data sources, pipelines, and algorithms used for solutions. 

  • Work with data scientists and digital analytics teams to integrate advanced analytics into data products/platforms for activation. 

  • Work with the data engineering team to ensure the ingestion of massive volumes of structured and unstructured data on the cloud with proper governance. 

  • Work with data engineering, governance, and platform teams to establish scalable and flexible data architecture and models to deliver high-quality data solution products. 

  • Lead or support the development & deployment of streaming/batch data pipelines and data science solutions in cloud production environments. 

 

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? 
 

  • Minimum of 5 years in data analytics, engineering, or product management fields, with at least 1 year in a people management role. 
  • 3+ years leading/building advanced analytics solution or data products with large volumes of data, preferably on the cloud. 
  • Cloud Ecosystem: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP). 
  • NoSQL Databases: Experience with databases (e.g. MongoDB) 
  • Streaming Data Platforms: Experience with Kafka and Spark. 
  • Data Visualization: Familiarity with tools like Power BI. 
  • UNIX Tools & Scripting: Hands-on experience with UNIX tools, shell scripting, and SQL for querying relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, DB2, MySQL). 
  • Programming: Skills in Python (Java preferred but not required). 
  • Git Workflows: Experience with pull requests, code reviews, and branching. 
  • Streaming & Event-Driven Architecture: Deep understanding required. 
  • Implementing marketing/customer data management platforms (e.g., Adobe Experience Platform). 
  • Principles and tools for data modeling, governance, quality, and privacy. 
  • Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions. 
  • People Management: Experience in developing teams and cultivating talent, including managing teams with varying experience levels. Demonstrates high initiative and ownership. 
  • Agile Environments: Proven history of working in agile environments, with successful estimation and delivery of complex solutions. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver timely results. 
  • University degree in a relevant STEM discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering, Mathematics).
