Summary:
As the Senor Manager, BioPharma Corporate Communications you operate within the Global Corporate Affairs BioPharma team with a specific focus on shaping and executing internal and external communications activities that engage employees and raise awareness and understanding of AstraZeneca’s BioPharmaceuticals business with external stakeholders.
You will work with leaders and communicators from all business areas and disciplines to deliver timely, relevant, and compelling communications activities that achieve tangible outcomes. Agility to multi-task, manage competing priorities and to work at pace are pre-requisite skills given the scope and breadth of work you will be involved in, and creative thinking to drive and deliver our ambitious aspirations is essential.
You must be comfortable providing advice and guidance on communications matters to executives and senior leaders to deliver effective communications. Excellent writing, project management, planning, and multi-channel communications experience (particularly digital) is essential, with a sound Pharma background desirable. The often sensitive, material content involved means that you will be required to demonstrate exemplary personal judgment, initiative, and collaborative skills while working as part of a close-knit, high-performing, and flexible team.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage development and delivery of BioPharma corporate communications activities in line with corresponding strategies and plans.
- Proactively identify, develop and deliver accurate, clear and compelling communications materials, campaigns and activities spanning all corporate activities in a timely way
- Advise, coach and counsel internal stakeholders, including senior leaders on events/issues that need to be communicated
- Manage channels such as Nucleus (Intranet), Nucleus video (Video Streaming), Workplace (Internal Social Platform), Zoom (Broadcast tool), MS Teams (Collaboration platform), Digital Plasma Screens and share the responsibility for disseminating announcements when appropriate
- Oversee the design, development and delivery of high impact global events, such as the Biopharma Business Unit Excellence Awards and take on a key role in the successful delivery of leadership events, such as the bi-annual senior leader meetings.
- Measurement of effectiveness of communication approaches, provision of analysis and recommendations to drive continuous improvements (including rationalisation/ simplification where appropriate)
- Support communications related to global crisis incidents when required
- Responsible for management and productivity of agency/contractor relationships and associated management of internal stakeholders, overseeing quality and compliance of work
Knowledge and experience:
- Experience of managing different stakeholder relationships, confident at forging trusted relationships at a senior level
- Sound judgement combined with good interpersonal and influencing skills
- Ability to quickly capture requirements by getting to the ‘heart of the matter’ and design appropriate communications activities to achieve desired outcomes
- Proven experience of working in a fast-paced global internal communications team or similar corporate communications environment
- Excellent English writing skills
- Experience of developing, delivering and measuring internal communications to achieve tangible outcomes
- Experience of analytics systems and measurement reporting
- Practical understanding of financial reporting and disclosure requirements at a UK publicly listed company a distinct advantage
- Experience of working in a highly regulated sector
- Strong digital communications experience, including content management systems, email and internal social media
- Manage conflicting priorities, stakeholder and colleague expectations and deliver consistently high-quality outputs
- Inquisitive mindset with well-developed critical/analytical abilities
- Strategic thinker looking outside to bring new approaches to continually reinvigorate outputs and improve the effectiveness of approaches
- High level of integrity, able to handle highly confidential information
- Proactive with high levels of self-motivation and personal accountability, bringing enthusiasm and energy to team, peer group and tasks
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
