urpose:
Housed within the Division of Equity, People and Culture, the Associate Vice-President works to broaden and deepen York’s intellectual communities. The AVP Indigenous Initiatives actively works to identify, implement and achieve Indigenization, Dedolonization and Reconciliation. Much of this is achieved through community-building events and communications and through York’s commitment to decolonization, sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion. The Senior Administrative Assistant is accountable for providing administrative support to the members of a management leadership team. This involves supporting the organizational unit’s business functions including general administration, finance, and special projects. The incumbent supports the vision, mission, values and strategic direction of the University, and due to the nature of the position, regularly has access to highly confidential staff and organizational information. This position further supports York’s commitment to sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion.

Education:

  • Post-secondary diploma in a relevant field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of administrative experience.

Skills:
Knowledge

  • Knowledge of administrative procedures and practices.
Skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload and meet timelines.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Skilled in proofreading, editing, and maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to provide excellent service to the community and deal courteously and effectively with people at all levels.

  • Compensation:

York’s CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award. Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.Visit the CPM Compensation page on the HR Website to find out more about York’s CPM Compensation Program.
