Registered Psychotherapist – Job Description

The Lighthouse – Le Phare is a dynamic and growing counselling and psychotherapy practice, offering mental health and neurofeedback services to individual adults, teens and children, couples, families, and groups. We have offices in Kemptville and Kingston, and we serve clients throughout Ontario. We are currently looking for two registered psychotherapist, couples and families for our Kingston Location, with a start date of March 1, 2023. You must be available for in-person sessions. We do not have virtual-only positions at this time.

As the Ideal Candidate, You:

– Hold a Master’s degree or Doctoral degree in counselling, psychotherapy or related discipline.

– Are a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) registered with the CRPO.

– Have a minimum 4 years’ experience providing services to a variety of clients, in particular couples and families, including those in non-traditional unions and living arrangements. Your training and experience must be clearly indicated on your résumé.

– Hold current and sufficient professional liability insurance in Ontario

– Can offer a minimum of 15 hours of availability to clients each week. Some evening and/or weekend availability is essential.

– Are interested in and capable of providing psychotherapeutic assessment and treatment to individuals presenting with a wide range of mental health symptoms and problems.

– Can work with clients from assessment to termination, formulating and implementing an agreed-upon treatment plan with defined goals.

– Are a self-motivated, independent, responsible problem-solver.

– Are current in all matters pertaining to ethical, confidential delivery of counselling services as outlined by your regulatory college.

– Will be able to see clients in-person in our Kemptville or Kingston office

Other qualification assets

Have at least one other niche area of practice – for example, children, adolescents, trauma, grief, disordered eating etc.

Have prior private practice experience.

Are bilingual (French/ English), other languages an asset.

Are experienced in conducting support groups or group therapy.

Hours

Work hours and schedule may vary depending on client and The Lighthouse – Le Phare needs. Hours include some nights and/or weekends. The therapist is not guaranteed a minimum number of patients or sessions per week. However, it is expected that the therapist will be available to hold at least 15 sessions per week, provided such sessions are available and referred/scheduled by The Lighthouse – Le Phare. This opportunity is in Kingston, ON. Client sessions are normally held in the offices of The Lighthouse – Le Phare, unless otherwise indicated by local/ provincial health authorities and the CRPO due to covid-19 pandemic restrictions. Sessions are held remotely during periods of lockdown.
