BCIT’s Human Resources department is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) Recruitment Assistant to join the recruitment team. The Recruitment Assistant is responsible for recruitment-related activities which include drafting postings and advertisements, developing sourcing strategies, liaising with internal Human Resources and Institute staff (i.e., Operations Managers), conducting research, and implementing social media initiatives. Working with a team of Human Resources Business Partners, Recruitment Specialists and the Manager, Human Resources, this position is an integral part of the Human Resources activities at BCIT.
Duties & Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Liaises with Human Resources Business Partners and other Institute staff to clarify details of position requisition.
- Prepares postings based on samples or develops postings from job descriptions for review by appropriate Human Resources Business Partners.
- Prepares text for external advertising, and posts where required (e.g., LinkedIn, newspaper, online job boards, industry association publications, etc.).
- Uses social media to enhance recruitment practices.
- Manages applicant tracking system (ATS): Monitors competitions for applicant response.
- Monitors and collects feedback for system issues and ongoing development.
- Conducts research (via Internet, cold calls, contacts, etc.) mainly related to alternative advertising options and various projects.
- Schedules interviews and testing, books rooms and makes parking arrangements.
- Conducts reference checks and pre-screening interviews via telephone.
- Manages general email for Human Resources Department; answers all recruitment-related inquiries and distributes other inquiries as appropriate
- Monitors and reconciles recruitment budget.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 plus courses in Human Resources Management, with the goal to complete the Human Resources Management Certificate Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Three years’ office experience, which includes six months in Human Resources.
- Must have formal training and experience using Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to think creatively.
- Accurate keyboard skills of 50 wpm.
- Must be customer-service oriented with an emphasis on excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must possess strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle many tasks at one time while meeting strict deadlines and changing priorities.
- Ability to exercise considerable judgment, tact and diplomacy and respect client confidentiality.
- A high degree of energy and enthusiasm, with strong attention to detail.
- Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems, HRIS systems and social media would be an asset.
