The Acute Care and Clinical Services is seeking a part-time, permanent Program Assistant to work within the Crisis Critical Care Treatment Unit 7 (formerly Women’s Inpatient Unit). Reporting to the Manager, you will contribute to the organization and optimal function of the Women’s inpatient Unit under the direction of the clinical staff and promote maintenance of the therapeutic milieu as a member of the interprofessional team. Supporting staff and patients within this role include tasks such as:

  • Completing environmental safety scans
  • Supporting staff escorting patients between units and the terrace
  • Assisting with behavioral observations of patients
  • Supporting other units within the CCC program tasks include (but are not limited to)
  • Environmental safety scans
  • Q15 mins observations
  • 1:1 patient observations
  • Accompany clients within and off the CAMH campus
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing regarding behavioural observations

This position involves shift rotation and weekend work. The position is located at the Queen Street Site and is twelve (12) hour shifts.The successful candidate will have a Secondary School diploma or equivalent and preference will be given to candidates that have 6 months – 1 year experience in a health care related field. The successful candidate will possess a Personal Care Worker Certificate or possess or be in the process of pursuing a certificate/diploma/degree in a health care discipline. CPR is considered as an asset. Ability to work with diverse clients and staff is required. Familiarity with clinical care and issues specific to mental health and or addictions settings is preferred. Familiarity with clinical care and issues specific to mental health and or addictions settings is preferred.
