Position Summary:

Reporting to the Academic Program Manager of the School of HR and Global Business the professor is responsible for developing, preparing, and delivering courses within Seneca Business to ensure an effective and compelling learning environment for students.


Program Area/Level:

Responsible for teaching course(s) in the School of HR and Global Business, and other schools within Seneca Business.


Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the senior academic officer of Seneca or designate, the Professor is responsible for:


Teaching

  • Ensuring student awareness of course objectives, approach and evaluation techniques.
  • Carrying out regularly scheduled instruction, which may include tutoring and academic counselling of students.
  • Providing a learning environment that makes effective use of available resources, course delivery modes, and work experience.
  • Evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the student’s work within assigned courses, in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to Academic Integrity and Academic Quality.

Course and Curriculum Development:

  • Consulting with program and course leads and other faculty members, advisory committees, accrediting agencies, potential employers and students.
  • Defining, evaluating, and validating course objectives and working with other instructors to align course content and assessments.
  • Specifying or approving learning approaches, necessary resources, etc.
  • Developing individualized instruction and multi-media presentations where applicable.
  • Selecting or approving textbooks and learning materials.

Academic Leadership:

  • Providing guidance to Instructors relative to the Instructors’ teaching assignments.
  • Participating in the work of curriculum and other consultative committees as requested.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Minimum of a completed Master’s degree.

Experience

  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in a Human Resources role.
  • Preferred two (2) years of teaching/training experience.

Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian HR practices.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with Seneca’s students, faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Commitment to a team approach for problem solving and conflict resolution.
