Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Data & AI organization is looking for a product manager to drive the growth of our Cloud Pak for Data, a modern cloud native platform for Data & AI services. An ideal candidate would be an entrepreneurial, adaptable, analytical, persuasive, empathetic, tenacious, and creative problem solver, who is well versed in both business and technology concepts. We are specifically looking for candidates with in-depth exposure to Cloud native, Open source, data science, and database management technologies. Knowledge of Containers, Kubernetes, OpenShift is highly preferred. Technical expertise is critical to be successful in this role.
Responsibilities:
Product Managers (PM) operate in a demanding role at the epicenter of multi-disciplinary teams which include design, engineering, sales, marketing, finance, and legal. In this role, you’ll play a central role leading and orchestrating the definition of product requirements and go-to-market strategy to solve data challenges of enterprise and mid-market clients. This role requires collaboration and coordination across internal and external teams and will be visible at the highest levels of our organization. You’ll work with our clients, Data and AI experts, partners, and other cross functional stakeholders to prioritize roadmap features and spearhead the definition and delivery of new and differentiated capabilities.

Innovate with established and emerging technology software, hardware, and services

Act as change agents and champion strategic initiatives and partnerships

Work collaboratively with development leaders, product architects, product designers, and key clients to appropriately package features into offering releases and ensure offering designs reflect business objectives (e.g., by creating quarterly roadmaps, monthly release plans)

Establish goals and review metrics to plan and deliver success and drive business review on a regular cadence

Regularly participate in overall functional program planning (e.g., for offering content, usability, schedule, and quality)

Articulate market problems to the broader product team

Develop and execute roadmaps, business models, and go-to-market plans

Drive client validation through beta programs and client meetings, confirming requirements are addressed by the delivered solution

Collaborate closely with design and engineering to ship offerings

Team with IBM and non-IBM technology partners as it relates to their technology being leveraged as part of Cloud Pak for Data ecosystem

Work with clients, offering management, and sales leadership around the world to understand and track the health and adoption of services and gather feedback

Support press and analyst activities as required
Candidates must be willing to travel up to 25%, including international travel.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
The successful candidate must have exceptional technical capabilities, communication skills, strong business judgment, and demonstrated relevant experience with Data and AI products and/or services. We are looking for a proven ability to execute both strategically and tactically, and someone who is excited to take on new, ambitious projects that will be industry defining and trend setting. This position requires a solid business and technical background, and the candidate should be client-focused with a passion for delivering compelling user experiences. When considering applicants for this role, we look for education and background in areas such as innovation, entrepreneurship, engineering, computer science, market/user research, design thinking, technology commercialization, business, and go-to-market practices. We look for candidates who exhibit the aptitude and experience relevant to product management.

Minimum 5 years of either Product Management or Project Development experience, with responsibility for researching, developing, and managing the lifecycle of offerings

Deep technical expertise and knowledge of Agile Software Development Processes

Demonstrated business leadership and technical acumen to drive a diverse offering portfolio in a cross-functional environment

Self-starter with proven record to deliver client and business outcomes

Conduct primary and secondary research regarding your product and service areas with prospects and clients, keeping a regular pulse on the market needs

Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams to achieve aggressive business objectives

Proven ability to synthesize complex issues and opinions into simple stories

Attention to details, ability to analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, and scope business requirements

Ability to deliver initiatives from conception through completion in an iterative way

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

10 years of either Product Management or Project Development experience, with responsibility for researching, developing, and managing the lifecycle of offerings

In-depth exposure to Cloud technologies, Enterprise Platforms, Open source, Data science, and Database management technologies

Candidates who previously worked for startups in a technical leadership role

Experience using tools such as Aha!, Jira, Github, and Mural

Experience with ‘Design thinking’ and building highly engaging and intuitive software

Proven ability to develop and execute new ideas and creative solutions

Demonstrated presentation skills (client-facing and executive-level)
