Brief Description:Our employer, an Orthodox synagogue located at Bathurst near the 401, seeks an experienced, engaging, and enthusiastic Youth Director to meaningfully grow and expand our youth outreach, engagement and programming for children ages 3-Teens. The candidate will work closely with the Rabbi to infuse creativity and energy into our youth programming. The Youth Director will be an integral part of the shul community and will reflect their Jewish values.Job Function:
- Program planning and oversight, designing appropriate activities for different age groups, arranging for staffing, maintaining and recording program budgets, training staff and volunteers when required, attending overview meetings with Youth Committee and other shul committees as programming requires
- Overseeing and running regular Shabbat programming, age-appropriate programming for weekly Shabbat services; ensuring that programming connects children to Torah in a meaningful and engaging way; ensuring programs are staffed by well-trained staff and volunteers; ensuring all supplies are procured in advance and are ready for programs on a weekly basis.
- Overseeing and running High Holiday programming as with weekly Shabbat programming but on a larger scale to accommodate multiple groups, ages, and longer programming hours
- Assistance with Community Programming and Outreach
- Assisting with planning and programming for the STC Community Dinner, Purim festivities, Chanukah festivities, Chesed Projects and other community-based events.
- Other duties as required
- Approximately 8-10 hours/week during peak seasons and 4-5 hours/week during regular programming months.
Job Requirement:
- Good with children and programming
- Has knowledge of Jewish traditions
- Ability to take initiative and prepare activities ahead of time
- Attendance at the shul when needed – usually 9:30 am – 12, and on holidays later
