Academic Part-time Position

We require qualified individuals to join the School of Interdisciplinary Studies teams to teach Career Development courses commencing Fall 2024. Selected candidates will need to be available for orientation that occurs prior to the start of the semester in August.

This program is delivered using a modular format which means individuals must be available for daily instruction over a 2-week period from September 16 – 26, 2024. Instruction will be hybrid with 2 afternoons in-person at Doon campus, 2 afternoons online synchronous, and the remaining hours will be asynchronous (self-directed by the student).

As these courses are pre-scheduled, candidates must be available to work Monday to Thursday 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., including in-person at the Doon campus on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure student awareness of course objectives, instructional approach, and evaluation systems
  • Carry out regularly scheduled instruction according to the format prescribed for the course, including online, classroom, and computer-assisted lab lessons
  • Evaluate student progress/achievement, assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the students’ work within the assigned course, and maintain records as required
  • Support students in the use of eConestoga, the learning management system (D2L), as well as maintain course materials within this system
  • Create and maintain a positive learning environment that supports the diversity of students’ cultures, educational backgrounds, and learning styles
  • Collaborate and build relationships with other program faculty

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Adult Education, Curriculum Development, Student Affairs, Leadership, or other relevant subject area required. Master’s Degree is an asset
  • Five years of current and relevant industry experience in the field of workforce development, career advising, or related
  • Additional College credential with a focus on career development (i.e., Career Development Professional or Teacher Trainer of Adults and level B Assessments (MBTI))
  • Previous post-secondary level teaching experience is an asset
  • Experience with online course delivery is preferred
  • Excellent leadership and teaching skills
  • A strong commitment to academic excellence and student success
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to relate effectively to a wide variety of learners
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a faculty team
