The incumbent is responsible for following the direction of the faculty who develop and create the lesson plans and assessment for the courses. This position will support student activities through demonstrations, managing any related set up of labs/clinics, ensuring all health and safety protocols are being implemented and monitoring of equipment.Key Responsibilities:
- Plans, organizes, and supports student activities in dental labs/radiography labs/preclinics/clinics based on lessons designed by faculty and/or reviewing material previously taught.
- Demonstrates activities for students to complete assignments based on previously taught theory by faculty.
- Supports students who are identified in need of remedial attention as determined by faculty.
- Assists in assessment that is routine and utilizes previously designed rubrics/check list prepared by faculty.
- Supports the appropriate use of equipment and materials in each lab/clinic, maintenance, and start-up of labs/clinics for student use/supervising set up and clean up by students.
- Stores and monitors equipment used and reports any equipment that is broken or requires repair.
- Ensures environment and delivery of care utilizes principles of prevention, infection, and control (IPAC).
- Provides overview on the appropriate use of equipment, health and safety protocols in the lab or clinical settings.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
- Dental Assisting Level I and II certificate is required.
- NDAEB certification and ODAA membership in good standing.
- HARP certified.
- Minimal five (5) years of dental assisting experience in dental practice.
- Prior experience in demonstrating a wide variety of dental protocols or experience in a post-secondary environment preferred.
- Training in educational theory and methodology.
