Outdoor Education Teacher

We are currently seeking a qualified Early Childhood Educator to work in our wonderful Preschool and Kindergarten program located in Vancouver (Kitsilano, Arbutus Ridge area). We feel that nature is an important part of a child’s education. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about nature. You will work in a variety of natural landscapes such as: forests, ocean sides and parks as they inspire play and follow the children’s lead to discover the world around them. This early childhood educator needs to be capable and confident leading a nature classroom in developmentally appropriate, engaging activities based on our Montessori and play-based curriculum. This educator will be working alongside a team of early childhood educators, therefore the ability to work well collaboratively is important. The position will begin April 2023. The successful candidate must meet the following criteria:

Qualifications

ECE or Bachelors of Education is required

Montessori Training considered an asset. First AID & CPR certification is required. Criminal Record Check required

Minimum 1 year childcare experience is an asset

• Genuine passion for working with children aged 3-6
• Classroom management, behavioural management and organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff and parents
• Ability to adapt and respond to changes using a positive and proactive approach
• Punctuality, reliability and integrity
• Ability to demonstrate a sound understanding of child development as well as an aptitude in different learning approaches to early childhood care and education.

Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 8-16 per week

Salary: $40.00-$50.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)

Experience:

• teaching: 1 year (preferred)
