Job Summary: 

The Faculty of Education is looking for a part-time position to assist with organization of the Canadian Society for the Study of Education (CSSE) taking place on McGill campus between June 12 and 17, 2024. The incumbent will help with logistics prior to the conference and lead a group of volunteers during the event. This includes leading volunteer training and leading them to troubleshoot in terms of wayfinding, signage, catering and equipment needs. The incumbent will also be required to keep track of receipts, submit relevant expense reports when necessary and complete post-conference reporting. 

The incumbent will also support the general administration for the Dean’s Office in The Faculty of Education including helping with other faculty events, assisting visitors in our reception area, assisting with room bookings and key management.  

These functions can be of high complexity and the incumbent performs them using general instruction. 

 

Typical Functions: 

Acts as a resource person to resolve various issues that may arise during planning, scheduling, and events including during CSSE conference.  

Leads volunteers during CSSE conference. 

Assists with volunteer training prior to CSSE conference. 

Respond to general emails and enquiries sent to CSSE McGill email account. 

Acts as a liaison between the unit and internal or external parties to provide various assistance or information. 

Performs specific expense analysis via bookkeeping and expense claims. Creates reports and assists with budget preparation. 

Creates various other reports when needed.  

Performs other general administrative tasks requested by supervisor.

Minimum Education, Certification and Experience: 

  • High School Diploma with two years of relevant experience in the field of work 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills 

  • Knowledge of Excel an asset 

  • Knowledge of Office 365 including Teams, OneDrive and Sharepoint an asset 

  • Experience with event planning asset. 

 

Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 (qualifier) on a scale of 0-4.

Hourly Salary:

(AMUSE C) $22.00
