Introduction to role

The Manager, Events Systems and Solutions will partner with Alexion Commercial HCP Engagement & Meeting Operations, Business Systems, and IT to support and develop new and existing capabilities within Veeva Events Management. Veeva Events Management is a CRM add-on product for planning and driving events, such as Speaker Programs, which is essential for the Commercial Field’s interactions and engagements with Health Care Professionals (HCPs). The individual’s main focus will be to act as the Veeva CRM Events Management Subject Matter Expert (SME) and bring value for the HCP Engagement & Meeting Operations organization within Business Operations and Commercial Effectiveness (BOCE) in the US Commercial organization. The position is dynamic, highly collaborative, and will play a critical role in setting the organization up for future success. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and familiarity with the unique processes, challenges, and regulations related to event planning within the pharmaceutical and biotech industries.

Accountabilities

  • Creating and mapping out processes, gathering requirements, and working with developers to implement Veeva CRM Events Management and system projects and enhancements from start to finish
  • Leading and facilitating the resolution of critical Veeva system issues in coordination with IT ensuring user issues are resolved and user feedback is captured for future improvements 
  • Facilitating system and process engagement with HCP Engagement & Meeting Operations, Field force, and IT to identify requirements for system enhancements that improve and optimize the use of existing platforms for US Commercial
  • Leading systems capability enhancements and rollouts for meaningful Events Management platforms that enable field teams to achieve their objectives while reducing work in the system, including presenting new functionality and processes/tools to collaborators 
  • Driving system and process adoption through strategic and operational change management activities 
  • Establishing and managing vendor relationships and investigating new system enhancements to continuously improve and optimize the use of existing platforms, as well as staying informed about emerging technologies relevant to Event Management Operations.
  • Representing the department in cross-functional projects to ensure that Event Management operations and digital interests and requirements are accounted for.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years’ experience in supporting, implementing, managing, and enhancing a CRM or enterprise business platform with a focus on events management, such as Veeva or Salesforce.com
  • Proven ability in effectively working with and managing cross-functional teams, successfully navigating between Business and IT stakeholders.
  • Advanced PowerPoint or equivalent software skills for making strong presentations to key stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel or equivalent software skills for data analysis
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines 
  • Familiarity with the unique challenges and regulations related to event planning within the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. 
  • The ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact systems enhancements.
  • The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. As is typical of an office-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience implementing, managing, or enhancing Veeva Events Management or Salesforce.com or similar Events Management Tool
  • Consulting experience in strategy, management, or IT
  • Veeva Events Management certification 
  • Knowledge of the Veeva Events Management features, including event creation, attendee registration, content management, reporting, and integration with other Veeva CRM modules
  • Experience in Life sciences/Pharma/Biotech/Healthcare industry
  • Vendor management experience
  • Experience working in JIRA or similar project management tools
