LECTURER IN BUSINESS STRATEGY AND MANAGEMENT

Part-time, contract based appointment, located in downtown Montreal.

UNICA Community-Research-Learning Institute (UNICA CRLI) is an organization fostering research, development, Innovation, academic learning and community support. It serves as a collaborative hub for creation and an incubator for research and development (R&D) in a multidisciplinary perspective. UNICA CRLI partnered with NCC Education, a global provider and awarding body of British education, in order to deliver qualification programs in Computing and Business Management. Such qualifications are regulated and recognised by the United Kingdom (UK) government through Ofqual, a non-ministerial government department that reports directly to the UK. RESPONSIBILITIES UNICA CRLI is looking for lecturers in Business Strategy and Management to teach the following courses: Introduction to Business – introduction to the purpose, types and organisation of businesses. Students also shall become familiar with a range of business concepts such as basic marketing practices. Introduction to Accounting and Economics – the key principles of accounting and economics. Students shall become accustomed to concepts such as market structures and monetary policy and also learn how to produce simple financial statements. Foundation Mathematics – algebra, differential calculus, integral calculus, statistics and probability, graphical data representation. Essentials of Management – the principles and functions of management. Students shall be taught the key elements in planning and decision-making, and the significance of different controls required in an organisation. Fundamentals of Economics – fundamental economic theories and concepts which are applied in decision-making in a business environment. Students shall gain an understanding of the economic environment and its effect upon business organisations and their markets. Communications for Business – introduction to a wide range of skills for business professionals. Students shall cover the production of various types of documents and presentations as well as the skills needed to communicate effectively in a business environment. Understanding Business Organisations – the objectives, roles, functions and various forms of business organisations as they adapt to a dynamic and changing environment. Business Mathematics – algebra, statistics and probability, forecasting (time series, moving averages). Students will also be taught to present and analyse business data. Introduction to Finance – the basic concepts and techniques of financial and managerial accounting. It considers the role of accounting in recording and reporting financial performance and in providing information to decision makers. eBusiness – applications for eCommerce and the use of these in solving business problems. Students shall learn about state-of-the-art technologies and their major impact on the business world. Principles of Marketing – exploration of marketing principles in order to analyse, plan and implement policies to achieve marketing and corporate objectives. Your responsibilities as a lecturer: * Plan the course sessions; * Deliver the sessions in a dynamic, efficient and structured manner; * Prepare students for formative and summative assessments according to the competency-based approach; * Administer and mark assessments; * Follow up students and encourage their success; * Be available to students (including office hours) to support their development of the competency targeted by the course; * All other related tasks; DESIRED BACKGROUND * University level degree, certificate or diploma with an option or concentration in one of the following disciplines: Business Administration, Business Management, Project Management, Marketing. * Have worked in a profession related to the discipline or course for at least two (2) years; * Teaching experience of at least 2 years; * Knowledge of the PMBOK; * Proficiency in management and accounting tools, an asset (SAP, Sage 50, Microsoft Project, etc.); * Mastery of the Office suite; * Comfortable with online education environments; * Team environment oriented; * Be an organised and passionate person. Salary: $35.00-$55.90 per hour
