In a community where social-emotional learning and diversity, equity and inclusion are key priorities, the successful candidate demonstrates empathy, creativity, as well as the ability to build a caring rapport with students and colleagues. With proven experience providing individualized support to students and having strong communication skills, the successful candidate will join the Learning Strategies team and report into the Director, Learning Strategies and Health Centre.This position is on campus, 14 hours a week, ideally across four days with flexibility, covering hours when students would be available for sessions.Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:Develop an understanding of the unique learning profiles and needs of Branksome Hall students;Create and update Learning Strategies Plans for students with identified learning needs;Assist students to develop appropriate learning strategies to ensure their success;Support students to achieve the attributes of the IB Learner Profile;Provide individual learning support to students as required;Support students, parents and teachers in their understanding of learning difference and learning needs;Assist faculty to implement differentiated instruction to meet specific learning needs;Work collaboratively with learning specialists, subject specific teachers, social workers, school nurses and school counsellors to develop and implement best practices to support students;Co-teach or teach learning strategies workshops.Candidate Profile:Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution;Ontario Teacher’s Certificate with Additional Qualifications in Special Education;A minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching Special Education;Experience writing and implementing IEPs or formal written education plans is preferred;A relational educator who incorporates Social-Emotional Learning and emotional coaching strategies in their practice;Experience and/or commitment to incorporating DEI principles into their Learning Strategies Plans;Knowledge of relevant technology and able to work in a laptop and online environment;Adept at leveraging technology to deliver education program and correspond with students, parents, colleagues and the community at large;Strong verbal and written communication skills;Experience in and knowledge of IB is a strong asset and preferred;Belief in and alignment to Branksome Hall’s mission, vision and values:Passionate about teaching and being in service of students and the community;Ability to work both independently with little direct supervision as well as be a collaborative team member.Why Join Branksome Hall:Joining Branksome Hall will change your life.
