Astellas Pharma Canada (APCA) is currently searching for a Lead, Data Engineering reporting to Head of DigitalX, DataX.
Description
The Data Engineering Chapter Lead is responsible for leading the data engineering chapter, focusing on the development, optimization, and maintenance of data architecture and pipelines that support analytical and operational capabilities. This leader will ensure that data engineering initiatives align with the strategic business objectives and operate seamlessly within the agile model, collaborating with various value teams, chapters, and Hubs.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Team Leadership: Mentor data engineers to enhance professional growth and ensure high-quality data infrastructure development.
- Technical Expertise: Provide strategic guidance on complex data systems, optimizing data pipelines and databases for performance and scalability.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with IT and business units to align data engineering projects with organizational needs and data governance standards.
- Best Practices: Implement DataOps and other modern methodologies to improve the reliability and security of data solutions.
- Recruitment and Onboarding: Oversee recruitment and ensure effective onboarding of data engineers to maintain technical standards.
- Performance Management: Conduct performance evaluations and support data engineers in career development and skill enhancement.
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in data engineering with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role managing data-focused teams within an agile environment.
- Strong background in data architecture, database design, ETL processes, and big data technologies, with hands-on experience in SQL, NoSQL, and cloud-based data solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop a team, with strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and across multiple disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven track record of innovative thinking and ability to adapt to new technologies and data methodologies.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to derive insights that influence business decisions.
- Experience incorporating AI and machine learning into data strategies to enhance analytical capabilities and business insights.
