As a member of the school’s Well-Being and School Counselling team, and a partner in Social Emotional Learning initiatives, the Social Worker assists students (JK – Grade 6) and their families, in addressing the social, behavioural, and emotional factors which impact student well-being. They will make the best use of available opportunities and resources to fully develop each student’s individual potential.The position follows the academic calendar and is part-time, where the Social Worker will work 2 days per week in person on campus.Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:Develop and implement programs that support and promote wellbeing;Participate in and provide expertise to students and employees regarding SEL and DEI initiatives within the Junior School;Provide individual, group and family counselling, crisis intervention and consultation support using an equity lens;Lead the coordination of the Grade 5 ‘Playground Detectives’ program and the Peer Support/Circles program;Develop and teach SEL curriculum;Ensuring ongoing communication with students and families through parent engagement initiatives and contributing to internal school communication channels;Keep abreast of current community resources, research, and best practices in support of student, family and community mental health and wellbeing;Understand, and practice in accordance with, federal, provincial, and local laws, statutes, and/or policies that relate to students and families; such as, child protection/child abuse, special education, attendance, education rights and privacy;Collaborate with stakeholders to implement innovative programs and resources;Provide referrals to community resources as needed;Lead the program development of the SWAP (Student Wellbeing Activity Program) on Wednesday mornings, in collaboration with the Assistant Head of Junior SchoolMaintain recordings and update documentation within student records and in accordance with OCSWSSW standards;Other duties as assigned.Candidate Profile:Master Degree in Social Work and membership in O.C.S.W.S.S.W.;Eligibility to be a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW), including the ability to purchase insurance;3-5 years of clinical social work experience in an educational setting strongly preferred, or social service agency;In depth understanding of the psychosocial development of children and adolescents, along with adolescent mental health, variety of learning, social-emotional challenges, diagnosing learning disabilities, ADHD, and anxiety;Excellent assessment and consultation skills;Demonstrated interest and experience in the integration of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion with Social-Emotional Learning;Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a cross-functional team;High emotional intelligence and professionalism with the ability to engage with sensitivity, tact, diplomacy at all times.Why Join Branksome Hall:Joining Branksome Hall will change your life.
