Working under close supervision and operating according to standard procedures, the Junior Source Production Technician performs duties related to the Technical Operations with respect to fabrication and processing of radioactive sources. Will maintain detailed and accurate production records.
This position is deemed a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW). A Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW) is defined by the Nuclear Safety and Control Act as a person who is required, in the course of the person’s business, or occupation in connection with a nuclear substance or nuclear facility to perform duties in such circumstances that there is a reasonable probability that the person may receive a dose of radiation that is greater than the prescribed limit for the general public (1 mSv per year for the whole body).
Key Responsibilities
- Routinely performs tasks related to the operation of one major process or facility
- Maintains routine production related records and performs general housekeeping.
- Operates hoists, slings, lift trucks, manipulators and other equipment in the performance of tasks.
- Assists in removal of process waste decontamination of facilities and equipment.
Qualifications
Normally technical Post-Secondary Graduate (3 years) or related experience in an appropriate trade.

Additional Requirements
- Good manual dexterity and grip strength
- Work with arms and hands on a constant basis
- Push and pull carts with a force of up to 25kgs on an occasional basis
- Lift and carry up to 10kgs on an occasional basis.
- Wear a respirator potentially for an extended period of time.
- Availability to work the required shift(s) and overtime
