IT Security Specialist

Role: Senior IT & Security Specialist (Pharma, Onsite – Markham, ON)

Location: Markham, ON – 5 days a week onsite

Duration: Full time

Reports to: VP of Operations

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior IT & Security Specialist to support all departments across our pharmaceutical operations. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance, reliability, and innovation across laboratory, production, QC, and R&D systems, while driving digital transformation and security best practices.

Must-Haves:

• Pharma industry experience (GMP/GxP/GLP environment).
• Hands-on experience with lab/analytical systems such as MassHunter, Cary WinUV, PerkinElmer FTIR, Madgetech secure software, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of MS environments (Domain Server, Dynamics 365).
• Experience with computerized system validation (CSV) in compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 and GMP standards.
• Proven ability to maintain system availability, backups, and data recovery in regulated environments.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Cybersecurity expertise (risk management, phishing awareness training, physical access/security systems).
• Familiarity with regulatory audits and supporting inspections.
• Knowledge of IT budgeting, financial reporting, and license management.
• ITIL or other certifications related to service management.
• Experience developing SOPs, validation plans, IQ/OQ/PQ protocols.
