Computershare has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time IT Business Analyst to join our Issuer Services team. This position can be 100% remote for candidates based in Ontario. Or, if you prefer to work in a hybrid model (part time remote and part time from an office), we can offer a hybrid environment from our Toronto office.

A role you will love

As one of our IT Business Analysts, you will be part of a cross-functional agile delivery team which creates customer-oriented solutions aligned to the overall Computershare and Technology strategy and values.

In this role, you will prepare clear requirements which will form a well-balanced Product Backlog for your delivery team to work from, facilitating simple, robust and scalable solutions which deliver regular incremental value to our business lines in close collaboration with your network of stakeholders.

In addition, you will contribute to the Analyst community, promote innovation, and share your knowledge of industry best practices.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Eliciting requirements using effective, visual techniques, and find innovative ways to solve problems
  • Writing high quality, clear User Stories
  • Supporting estimates for User Stories based on the relative sizing scale used in your team
  • Engaging multiple analysis techniques and employing the most appropriate for each Requirement
  • Becoming a domain expert within your business line and associated systems
  • In collaboration with the Product Owner maintaining a healthy balanced Product Backlog
  • Promoting a learning culture, and mentoring less experienced team members
  • Run effective stakeholder workshops while always looking to keep things interactive and fun!

What will you bring to the role?

You’re naturally inquisitive and keen to learn with the ability to ask the right questions and really get to the root of the requirements. You’re pragmatic and innovative with a solution-oriented mindset; although the details matter, you can elicit requirements from the stakeholder group and communicate your ideas.

Being analytical and solution focused is essential. You enjoy working both independently and collaboratively as you’ll be partnering closely with the Product Owner and the wider team(s). As we work in this ‘new world’ it is important for us that you are self-motivated with energy and enthusiasm to succeed and drive results.

You also have:

  • 2+ years of relevant business analysis experience
  • Ability to break down complex domains quickly and translate them more simply and effectively
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills; able to manage positive and effective negotiations with stakeholders

Bonus points if you have:

  • An undergraduate degree in related discipline
  • Experience working in an Agile product development team
  • Business analysis courses or qualifications
  • Previous experience in the Financial Services sector
