Position Description:
The Department of Civil Engineering at McGill University invites applications for a non tenure-track teaching position at the level of Faculty Lecturer. Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated excellence or potential in the teaching of Civil Engineering courses, as well as experience with laboratory instruction.

The Department of Civil Engineering is committed to excellence in teaching in its undergraduate program, and values service contributions of its Faculty members to the University, the profession and society at-large. The BEng in Civil Engineering comprises courses in transportation engineering, structural engineering and materials, environmental engineering, geo-environmental and geotechnical engineering, fluid mechanics and water resources engineering, along with design, sustainability, communication, and project management.

Preferred qualifications include dedication to a work environment that supports diversity of population and perspectives. Membership or eligibility for membership in a Canadian professional engineering association is required. Permanent status as a Faculty Lecturer at McGill University available upon meeting the promotion criteria of the Department and University.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Candidates must have a Doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent), with a first degree in Civil Engineering. The successful candidate must provide evidence of: demonstrated excellence in and commitment to undergraduate teaching, ability to work independently and to supervise the work of others, promise of educational leadership, and potential for creating innovative instructional environments in both the undergraduate classroom and laboratory. Experience in curriculum development, course design, and other initiatives that advance the University’s teaching mission is an asset. Professional engineering experience is also an asset.

Job Duties:
Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to the mission of the University, through outstanding activities in the areas of teaching and laboratory supervision at the undergraduate level. Further, successful candidates will actively contribute in support of curriculum development and modernization, program evaluation and improvement, as well as accreditation review.
