Eaton is currently seeking an Engineering Manager to join our team at the Edmonton Power Center. This position is based at our Edmonton, Alberta facility.

As a member of the Senior Site Leadership Team, the incumbent must be a natural leader, motivator, hands-on problem solver and effective mentor. He/she will manage the Engineering Department and provide application engineering support to manufacturing, marketing, sales, service personnel and external customers. The main area of responsibility will be primarily tactical/operational in nature, with national strategic impact.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead electrical/mechanical engineering personnel performance and development to support plant goals.

  • Ensure quality and timeliness for deliverables that support plant manufacturing, Marketing and Sales.

  • Cooperate with USA product design, maintenance of line and manufacturing teams.

  • Collaborate with Canada Central Engineering to support product development, certification, and product sustaining needs.

  • Keep oversight of product certification/compliance with third-party approvals agencies (UL, CSA, etc.) as needed.

  • Engage team on KPIs such as safety, quality, on time performance, cycle time & productivity to support implementation of new ideas, processes, and equipment for continuous improvements.

  • Hold regular department meetings for KPI progress, standards changes, applications, discussions and other learning.

  • Promote and encourage employee participation in improving our site and community.

  • Plan, forecast and manage departmental resources and financial budgets.

  • Play a key role to maintain and support Eaton Business Excellence (EBE), Eaton Quality Management System (EQMS), Eaton Lean Six Sigma (ELSS), Management of Employees Safety & Health (MESH) and another Eaton related programs.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Registered Professional Engineer with APEGA or another province and eligible for APEGA registration.

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Minimum 3 years of previous managerial experience

  • Authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five plus (5+) years Experience in LV and MV power distribution application to provide consultation and advice to marketing and engineering on plant capabilities.

  • Fulfil the duties of a responsible member for the company’s APEGA permit to practice.

  • Five plus (5+) years experience in the application of control and switchgear assembly products up to 38kV.

  • Experience with Products Configurators and pricing tools

  • Prior operations experience within the electrical industry.

  • Project management experience.

  • Experience with Lean management and continuous improvement techniques

Skills:

  • Exceptional leadership, written/oral communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Understanding of budgetary process and the ability to manage budgets.

  • Demonstrated behavior to meet customer deadlines while coming up with solutions to difficult challenges.

  • Willingness & ability to challenge the status quo and create a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Excellent ability to partner with all levels of leadership and consistently achieve results in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

  • Proven ability to work closely with commercial teams such as Sales and Marketing

  • Demonstrated digital mindset.

  • Strong MS365 skills; TEAMS, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel (Advanced), Power Query, Outlook
