Shifts: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, one shift per week plus alternating weekends. Additional coverage may be required.

Closing Date: Until FilledResponsibilitiesAs a Dietetic Technician at West Park Healthcare Centre, you will contribute to the delivery of safe, patient-centered nutrition care in a rehabilitation setting. Working closely with Registered Dietitians, clinical teams, and Nutrition Services staff, you will ensure that meals are accurate, appropriate, and aligned with individual patient needs. Responsibilities include:Collecting and documenting detailed dietary information from patients upon admission, including allergies, cultural or religious restrictions, and individual food preferences. Information is entered into Computrition and the Electronic Patient Record (EPR), and updated regularly as needed.Interpreting therapeutic diet orders and modifying patient menus in Computrition to support the nutritional requirements of those on specialized or combination diets.Reviewing Smart Substitution reports daily to identify and resolve conflicts between diet orders and patient preferences, ensuring appropriate substitutions are made before meal trays are finalized.Managing the full tray ticket process and preparing tally reports to support accurate and safe meal production.Conducting patient visits within 48 hours of admission to confirm diet implementation and address food or nutrition-related concerns.Supporting the implementation of Registered Dietitian and Speech Language Pathologist-led nutrition care plans, including changes to diet texture, portion sizes, supplements, and diet progression.Acting as a liaison between Nutrition Services and clinical units to clarify diet orders, resolve discrepancies, and ensure effective communication across teams.Maintaining accurate documentation and shared internal staff notes.Training and mentoring new clerical staff in Computrition, therapeutic diets, and department workflow to support safe and efficient service delivery.Participating in ongoing professional development and departmental meetings to stay informed of current practices and standards from CSNM, IDDSI, and other relevant bodies.QualificationsGraduate of an approved Food and Nutrition Management program from and Accredited College or a University graduate of a Food and Nutrition program.Current membership or eligibility for membership with the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM).Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in a healthcare food service environment.Previous experience working as a Dietetic Technician or Diet Tech in a healthcare or clinical nutrition setting is an asset.Experience with therapeutic diets, texture modifications, allergen management, and clinical nutrition principles.Familiarity with infection prevention and control practices in healthcare settings.Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, highly organized, flexible, and able to balance competing priorities.Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and patients.Knowledge of IDDSI guidelines and Ontario healthcare dietary standards and regulations.Proficiency in Computrition software is an asset.Additional InformationWhy join UHN?In addition to working alongside some of the most talented and inspiring healthcare professionals in the world, UHN offers a wide range of benefits, programs and perks.
