Job Description
This is a newly created role in Manulife Investment Management’s and John Hancock’s global institutional marketing team. With a focus primarily on quantitative data, the position supports consultant databases and an internal RFP Q&A knowledgebase. The role includes both completing existing processes and helping create new ways to manage and apply quantitative data for consultant databases and client questionnaires. It’s a mix of predictable, cyclical database updates, addressing hoc requests as they arise, and innovating to improve processes and find opportunities to add new value.
The ideal candidate is comfortable with quantitative data, highly detail oriented, diligent about seeing tasks through to completion, a good communicator and enjoys thinking creatively. The individual will get exposure to marketing, reporting, analytics, and consultant relations/distribution teams, offering several possible areas for development within a global asset management firm.
Responsibilities

Develop an understanding of the role of 3rd party consultants in the institutional and retail space, support the consultant relations team on this important part of our marketing efforts and look for ways to enhance the marketing team’s level and quality of support

Source monthly and quarterly investment data from internal reporting teams

Using an external vendor’s consolidation tool, make monthly and quarterly updates to our firm and product profiles across consultant databases, including data such as investment performance, assets under management, equity and fixed income characteristics; work with the vendor to enhance our use of the technology

Identify and troubleshoot any issues in data feeds to ensure completeness of product profiles

Address ad hoc requests and changes, sometimes with very tight turn-around

Communicate with collaborators about status of regular updates and ad hoc requests

Explore ways to optimize our use of technology and processes to improve speed, efficiency and accuracy; participate in a collaborative project with reporting teams and automation specialist to look for opportunities to automate data feeds

Work with personnel reporting and subject matter experts to create and implement a new process to track investment teams’ membership and team changes, and to share the information with the institutional marketing team

Help design, implement and manage a new process to push quarterly data points to our library of standard RFP Q&A

Look for additional ways we can use technology to support quantitative data used in client questionnaires

What we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 1-5 years of experience preferred either in the financial industry, working with quantitative data, or with databases
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- High comfort level working with large amounts of quantitative data across multiple data sets
- Excellent problem-solving skills and comfortable asking questions to gain understanding
- Adept at learning new technologies and exploring further capabilities
- Highly detail oriented
- Conscientious about following processes as defined, owning tasks and seeing them through to completion
- Enjoys thinking of ways to improve how we do things today and to come up with new ways to support our goals
- Ability to balance and adapt to shifting priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Interest in institutional asset management and retail investing

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.
Primary Location

Salary range is expected to be between
$68,775.00 CAD – $114,625.00 CAD
