Client Support Specialists are responsible for troubleshooting first level requests/calls from hospital staff and physicians. Calls are taken either directly by telephone or re-directed through a queue for on-site support. They resolve basic technical questions and work on hardware/software/network problems related to individual computer access. Client Support Specialists may also be responsible for monitoring the hospital’s Data Centre operations, to ensure availability, performance, security and reliability – including operating procedures, system back ups/restores and system maintenance procedures

Client Support Specialists must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a pleasant phone manner, and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical Clients with varying levels of computer knowledge.

Regular Full-Time

Rate of Pay: $27.40 per hour – $34.26 per hour

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week


  • Successful completion of a Two (2) year or a Three (3) year Community College diploma in Computer Science, Computer Networking, or Computer Specialist
  • A+ Hardware Certificate, MCSE or CNA preferred
  • Minimum (1) year recent, related experience in a high volume computer support environment
  • Proficient knowledge of general hardware components, software applications, and networking tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health care specific computer applications
  • Demonstrated technical and analytical skills
  • Basic understanding of project management and project leadership
  • Demonstrated proficient problem resolution and troubleshooting skills and aptitude
  • Excellent customer service and interaction skills
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, record keeping, and time-management skills
  • Demonstrated effective communication (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to work cooperatively within a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to take the initiative and be resourceful
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Mission, Vision and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a health review which includes providing vaccination records or proof of immunity against Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella(Chicken Pox). In addition candidates will need to provide documentation of Tuberculosis Skin testing and a completed COVID vaccine series (two vaccines).
