A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Ismail Fliss, Director of the Department of Food Science at Laval University and holder of the NSERC Industrial Research Chair/METABIOLAC. This project, carried out in collaboration with Dr. Jennifer Ronholm, McGill University, is entitled “Development of bioprotective and functional antimicrobial ingredients for long-term biopreservation of fresh sea products”. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate whose mission is the characterization of the microbial ecosystems of Quebec fish products. The candidate will also produce and characterize natural antimicrobial molecules that can be used as alternatives to chemical additives and study their biological activities in different fresh sea products. The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in microbiology, biology, food science, or a related field. He must also have research experience in microbial ecology, practical knowledge of omic approaches, bioinformatic tools, and excellent oral and written communication skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 24 months

Salary: From $42,000.00 per year
