Actalent is a global leader in engineering services and is a subsidiary of the Alleges Group, North America’s largest privately held technology capital solutions company.

Actalent is continuing to build a software division and straighten its engineering capabilities specifically in Vancouver, but Canada as a whole. We currently operate remotely, with the majority of our employees within the Vancouver market. The reason for this opening is that Actalent is investing in making several long-term hires to build a new software team. Actalent’s hiring package for full-time position includes an enhanced medical benefits package, training and development program, personal and sick days, etc.

The Software Developer will be responsible for the full software development lifecycle on complex projects (design, development, testing, etc.). Most of Actalent’s current projects will be focused on C++ development in a Linux environment, however we are very interested in a versatile developer who can support complex projects of varying technologies going forward. They will be working both autonomously and amongst Actalent and its clients’s teams and will have several opportunities for promotion and growth in a rapidly expanding company.

Responsibilities:

• Plan work, provide effort estimates, and drive work to completion

• Create engineering solutions that are technically competitive, cost-effective and have a direct impact on our customers

• Work from requirements to develop or modify complex hardware/software systems

• Design, code, test, debug and document high-quality software components

• Participate in integration, testing and deployment of applications

• Assist in troubleshooting problems in the production environments

• Identify and incorporate new technology in line with long-term goals

• Follow established development process and corporate technical quality standards

• Contribute to the continual improvement of our development processes

Skills:

• The candidate must have strong experience in software development OR a degree in Software or Electrical Engineering

• Object-orientated modern C++ development experience (3+ years)

• Experience working with Posix-based operating systems

• Understanding of Agile methodology
