BRI’s vision is to be a global leader in transformative, equity-driven research dedicated to enabling personalized versions of a good life across the lifespan, for all individuals with childhood onset disabilities, acquired injuries and developmental differences, their families and communities.DescriptionReporting to the Associate Chief, Data Science, the Biostatistician will assist BRI scientists and trainees with research design, develop statistical plans and supervise a data analyst.The Biostatistician will work to ensure rigour and reproducibility in BRI research studies to support the academic and research activities of the BRI by working closely with our talented scientists and their teams to design studies, analyze data and produce publications. The Biostatistician supervises a data analyst responsible for conducting sophisticated statistical analyses and ensuring timely delivery of results.Responsibilities

  • Partner with BRI scientists to design and implement research studies, support grant applications and supervise data analyses
  • Partner with BRI scientists and their teams to understand their study requirements and to ensure their analysis and study design needs are met
  • Build statistical analysis capacity in the institution by mentoring colleagues, data analyst and trainees
  • Prepare and maintain documentation such as analysis plans, project reports and other technical documents for large scale institutional projects
  • Partner with researchers to write and review manuscripts for publication; provide feedback on statistical analysis for publications
  • Supervise the BRI Data Analyst to ensure timeliness and quality

Qualifications

  • PhD in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or equivalent
  • 3-5 years experience in conducting biostatistics in health research
  • Knowledge of clinical research designs
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills to assess the quality of research results and find solutions for issues that arise during research
  • Coding/data analysis experience (e.g. R, SAS, JMP, SPSS, Matlab, Python, Stata etc.)
  • Strong verbal skills to present ideas clearly and concisely to non-technical researchers
  • Strong analytical skills, self-motivated, proactive, and have demonstrated excellence in organizing and prioritizing workflow in a fast paced and high-volume environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface with all levels within the Research Institute
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Familiarity with regulations (e.g. TCPS2 and GCP) that govern health research and testing
