Job Description

We are looking for an Automation / Control System Engineer to join our team.

Main Duties:

• Development of control narratives and shutdown keys
• Development of instrumentation and controls on P&IDs
• Development of alarm/setpoint and IO lists.
• Specification of control system equipment and software including PLC, HMI, Networking Equipment, UPS, Power Supplies, Control Panels, Alarm Dialers, Network Cabinets.
• Development of control system network architectures including fibre optic communication.
• Design of control panels
• Development of controls and network cable schedules.
• Development of wiring and schematic diagrams.
• Development of test plans including FAT, SAT, HAT
• Development and Review of drawing packages
• Control system programming / configuration. Experience with Rockwell PlantPAx, Modicon M580 would be an asset.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5 years of relevant experience
• Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code, particularly hazardous areas
• P.Eng, P.L.(Eng) registered with APEGA or CET/P.Tech registered with ASET. Will consider candidates working towards these designations or without designation with sufficient experience.

Other Skills/Qualifications Which Would Be an Asset:

• Familiarity with the National Electrical Code
• Experience working with instrumentation databases
• Experience with commissioning
• Experience with Vendor package witness testing
• PLC/HMI/Network Equipment Programming Experience
• Experience with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and the IEC 61511 standard
• Experience with Burner Management Systems
• P.E. (USA) Designation

Other Information:

• This position could be either contract or staff
• Candidates will be required to pass a police background check, pass a drug/alcohol test and be able and willing to travel to USA.
• Must have driver’s license
