Who we need:

In collaboration with the Director of Field Training, the Associate Director is responsible for the delivery and overall success of Field Training services to students in the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program.

The Associate Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Field Training department and the supervision of all staff in the department.

What you will do:

Program Delivery

· In collaboration with the Director of Field Training:

· Develop goals and objectives to support the successful delivery of field training services to a rapidly growing student population

· Develop and implement policies and procedures to obtain goals

· Work closely with and provide support to Dean of Behavioural Sciences

· Support practicum faculty in the delivery of PSYC7106 Practicum course

· Analyze and interpret data

· Provide leadership and engage other departments (e.g., E-Learning, Faculty Development) in collaborative long-term planning to ensure that Field Training and MACP objectives are achieved

· Support Field Training program and curriculum excellence through development, review, and revision of processes

· Support the development and review of educational plans for the MACP Program

· Support the external accreditation process

· Support the development and review of key learning initiatives across the MACP Program

· Participate on Field Training Faculty Review Committee and contribute to performance review process

· Support the Dean and Director of Field Training on Field Training Faculty Search Committee and provide leadership and guidance for the search,

· Support practicum student engagement and a quality education experience

· Represent the Faculty of Behavioural Sciences on internal committees

· Encourage Faculty interest in applied research

· Support Field Training Faculty to actively develop community partnerships.

Delivery of services to students

· Coordinate a multi-level service delivery system for MACP students (pre-practicum and practicum)

· Oversee the development and delivery of practicum-related information to be disseminated to students

· Oversee the development of course materials for PSYC7100 Orientation to Practicum (including live presentations and written materials)

· Address concerns about student conduct and or performance with respect to practicum

· Address student concerns with respect to practicum and field training staff

Supervision of Staff

· Coordinate job tasks across the team

· Supervision and support of staff

· Probationary reviews

· Coordination of vacation schedule

· Interviewing and hiring of staff

· Ongoing training of staff

· Oversee orientation and training of new staff

What you bring:

Education and Experience

· Masters degree in psychology, counselling psychology or related field

· Must hold and maintain active registration in a professional college that can supervise clinical therapy and counselling as outlined in the Health Profession Act

· At least 5 years relevant professional experience, including experience providing case consultation, supervision and training to professional counsellors, staff and postsecondary students

· 2 to 5 years experience in a supervisory role

Skills and Abilities

· Superior interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation skills, superior problem solving and judgement skills, as well as demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in an inter-professional setting

· Excellent time management and organizational skills. Position requires the ability to work flexible hours’ contingent upon faculty instructor, onsite supervisor, field training staff or student needs

· Highly organized and takes pride in meeting deadlines

· Strong people management skills

· Superior communication skills

· Strong relationship-building skills

· Collaborative, Creative, and innovative

· Experience and demonstrated ability working in an online learning environment using a variety of e-learning platforms
