The Department of Sociology at the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, invites applications for a two (2) year term appointment in Sociology at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor, to start 1 January 2023, subject to final budgetary approval.

Applicants should have a PhD in Sociology or Criminology. The position is for an individual with training and research interests in areas related to foundational criminology and sociology topics such as prisons and punishment, gender and justice, crime and media, gender-based violence, or homicide and femicide. Experience with teaching and research in Criminology or Sociology is an asset. The successful candidate will be expected to teach six undergraduate courses in the academic year, including introductory level courses in Criminology/Sociology, for example CRIM/SOCI1603, CRIM/SOCI2015, CRIM/SOCI2563, CRIM/SOCI2603, CRIM/SOCI2613, CRIM/SOCI2663, and to work with faculty colleagues developing new courses based on the candidate’s area of expertise and the strengths in the Department.
