Assistant Manager


POSITION: Assistant Manager LOCATION: Clinton

Hensall Co-op is seeking a motivated, self-driven individual to join the Animal Nutrition Division. You will be responsible for organizing and coordinating office operations and procedures to ensure organizational effectiveness and efficiency at all feed production facilities. This position is a full-time position and will work out of the Clinton location.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations in Clinton Location Manager’s absence and assist with daily operations
  • Respond to customer inquiries and concerns both over the phone and in person regarding feed, industry, and market information as needed
  • Finalize all broiler summaries and distribute to sales staff
  • Assist sales staff in servicing customers and help to resolve any reported issues
  • Feed invoicing as needed
  • Monitor and approve employee hours and time off requests in ADP. Approve ADP employee’s timecards and assist employees with insurance benefit inquiries
  • Complete all month end tasks in a timely manner, i.e., feed prepayment interest, flax rebates, apply outstanding credits etc.
  • Prepare bank deposit and outgoing mail, deliver to bank, and post office
  • Develop and implement office processes by setting up procedures and standards to guide the operation of offices at all Feed Mills
  • Allocate tasks and assignments to office employees and monitor performance
  • Remain up to date on technical and professional knowledge by reviewing industry publications, attending educational workshops, and building networks with colleagues and fellow professionals
  • Other tasks as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of office/administrative procedures
  • Superior customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Computer skills, including strong proficiency in MS office Suite
  • Basic accounting functions and numeracy skills
  • Understanding of Feed Mill and Elevator operations
  • Basic understanding of technical agricultural terminology


  • Post-Secondary Education in office administration program is an asset
  • 2+ years in a similar position
  • Previous experience in the agricultural industry is an asset
