ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general supervision of the Collections Manager, the Assistant Collections Manager performs critical accounting and billing functions for RiseBoro Community Partnership, a non-profit developer and property manager providing affordable housing to thousands of tenants across New York City.

  • Perform/ensure weekly recording and banking of all rent receipts and their reconciliation report for checks

  • Monitor and analyze rental assistance processing and subsidy-related disbursements and adjustments; report discrepancies to the Collections Manager on payment amount that may suggest contract rent has increased/decreased to ensure that proper billing adjustments are made

  • Retrieve all direct vendor payment registers from subsidy agencies and record payments into the respective tenants Yardi profile via consolidated receipts

  • Submit and track lease renewals 30 days after submission to subsidy agencies for approval to ensure that timely contract rental increases are accepted on tenant accounts

  • Manage recoupment of unpaid utility charges, including serving as liaison to residents

  • Participate in departmental project meetings as directed by the Collections Manager

  • Record rent allowances on Yardi and review accounts to ensure proper credit is provided

  • Review of tenant ledgers for accuracy

  • Make/request adjustments to tenant ledgers and submit to Collections Manager for approval and post them in tenant accounts

  • Perform administrative responsibilities including updating the property management/accounting system portal with the most current information/documentation

  • Create profiles for new tenancies within the Yardi Systems portal and track tenant move-outs

  • Support Collections Manager in managing commercial accounts

  • Supervise, coach, and mentor the Collections Specialist

  • Other related duties as assigned by the Collections Manager or a designee

    COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrated experience in bookkeeping or accounting

  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite and applicable software

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to problem solve and manage time effectively

  • Self-motivated, proactive, eager to learn, and able to take direction

  • Bilingual Spanish and English proficiency preferred

    EDUCATION EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or relevant field and a minimum of two (2) years of bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred

  • Associates Degree in accounting or relevant field and at least five (5) years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping

  • Any combination equivalent to education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills may be considered qualifying
