The Department of Medical Imaging, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, in affiliation with Sinai Health, the University Health Network and Women’s College Hospital, is recruiting a Full-time Chest Radiologist for the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Imaging Division. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2023.

The Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI) operates across the University Health Network Hospitals (Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, and Toronto Rehabilitation Institute), Sinai Health System, and Women’s College Hospital. The Department’s clinical services span a broad spectrum of diagnostic and interventional procedures in cardiopulmonary transplantation, airways and asthma, pulmonary hypertension and chronic pulmonary embolism, interstitial lung diseases, oncology, and acquired and congenital cardiac diseases, etc. Trauma imaging is not part of routine clinical activities. 

JDMI operates an install base of 19 CT and 12 MRI scanners (including dedicated research scanners), 97 X-ray and 25 ultrasound units, two PET-CT scanners, and one PET MRI scanner. Cardiovascular and Thoracic radiologists interpret per annum about 127,000 chest radiographs, 47,000 chest CTs, 500 chest MRs, 6,000 cardiac imaging studies, and perform more than 650 interventions in the chest. The successful candidate will join a team of 22 Faculty and eight clinical fellows in the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Imaging Division.

Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent degree, be a board-certified, fellowship-trained cardiothoracic radiologist, or have equivalent training with a strong clinical background in thoracic imaging. Experience with chest MRI and cardiac imaging is an asset. A strong interest and previous engagement in research and teaching are expected. The successful applicant must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario. Compensation will be in accordance with the uniform average salary of a Radiologist in the Province of Ontario. 

The successful applicant should be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. The academic rank will, however, be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
