Tenure-track Position in Applied Biomechanics of Human Movement, Department of Kinesiology & Physical Education Professor, effective January 1, 2024.

The Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, one of the three academic units of the Faculty of Education at McGill University, invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, effective January 1, 2024. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree (post-doctoral experience an asset) in Kinesiology or alternatively, a relevant area with training in biomechanics research. Selected candidates will have an emerging and/or outstanding research profile, demonstrated by excellent publications, national and international conference presentations, and an ability to attract external funding.

The Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education offers a B.Ed. in Physical and Health Education (since 1912), a B.Sc. in Kinesiology, as well as graduate degrees (M.Sc., M.A., Ph.D.) in six areas of specialization. We are seeking an individual who can work in an interdisciplinary environment, and complement and expand existing research activities in the Department, Faculty, and across the University.

Position Description:
This is a Tenure-stream position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, in Applied Biomechanics of Human Movement
Job Duties:

The successful candidate will contribute research that will advance the applied field of human biomechanics. We welcome applicants with demonstrated expertise or potential in strategic areas such as, but not limited to, the following: biomechanics of sports and human performance; musculoskeletal modeling; neuromechanics; technological applications (e.g. wearable technology, robotics); and modern, machine learning/artificial intelligence approaches in movement analysis. The selected candidate will also be expected to effectively supervise master’s and doctoral students in Kinesiology Sciences, teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels in their specialty areas and/or general topics in kinesiology sciences (e.g. Research Methods) using various modes of teaching, and actively engage in service that will contribute to the advancement of the Department, the institution and the scholarly community.

McGill University is an English-language university where most teaching and research activities are conducted in the English language, thereby requiring English communication both verbally and in writing.
