About the Opportunity
Northeastern University’s Multidisciplinary Graduate Engineering (MGEN) unit invites applicants, committed to teaching excellence, for the role of Assistant/Associate/Full Teaching Professor (a non-Tenure-Track faculty position) in Vancouver, Canada. In this role, the Teaching Faculty will report directly to the MGEN Executive Program Director. The selected candidate is expected to teach, advise, as well as identify new and industry trending subjects for curriculum advancement; the role prioritizes building strong connections with students and contributing to the college and university through service.
The MGEN unit seeks to produce more effective software engineers who are substantially more capable than ever of addressing the needs of digital society in terms of time, cost, and quality. The unit will accomplish this by revolutionizing the way software is designed and evolved over time, and believe software is a systems engineering challenge rather than a coding problem. This position will report directly to the MGEN Executive Director and collaborate across the unit. Successful candidates will be expected to teach six core or elective courses per year, and are willing to teach in the evenings, and during summer sessions if appropriate. Successful candidates will also incorporate hands-on instructional elements (i.e. programming code, etc.) for graduate-level engineering curriculum into their courses. The Assistant/Associate/Full Teaching Professor will develop course content, prepare academic activities and course delivery materials to support course objectives, advise students, work collaboratively to identify instructors, and perform service to the unit, university, and profession.

Additional duties associated with this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Instruct and prepare students to improve relevance, rigor, and quality through teachings and course offerings
- Counsel students on academic advising and other academic matters
- Respond to unit and student inquiries
- And other duties as required
PhD in Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering field is required by the appointment start date. The candidate for this role will have a terminal credential in a related engineering field, 10+ years of experience in either higher education and/or a relevant engineering field (a requirement of 15+ years of experience in either higher education and/or a relevant engineering field is required for positions at the associate and professor level), and have expertise working with a diverse student populations. The candidate will also have 10+ years of relevant industry experience and/or research in the areas such as: Blockchain-based decentralized trust computing, machine learning/AI, eco-scale application engineering, cloud computing and infrastructure platform design, software driven networking, software engineering/model driven design and architecture techniques, real-time 3D graphics, Metaverse design and deployment, digital twin technology, natural language processing, transformer based language models, generative image models, generative models for structured data, and others. Additionally, successful candidates will have a commitment to teaching excellence, an ability to handle multiple responsibilities concurrently, possess excellent written and oral communication skills, and can work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment is required.
