Our company is looking for a dedicated Accountant to join our finance team. You will report to the Assistant-Controller and work in an open and friendly environment with benefits that reflect an emphasis on health and wellness. The position currently offers a split office/work-from home environment. The position offers many interesting challenges as the newly created team builds the foundation for future growth. This role is a blend of day-to-day and project-related responsibilities. The candidate will have an opportunity to participate in projects and help manage the continued growth both organic and acquired.

The ideal candidate will be a self starter, well organized professional with an eye for detail who would is able to effectively work both autonomously and collaboratively. The candidate will contribute to ensuring that there are proper reporting and controls.

In this role, the candidate will perform the payable accounting functions, specifically having the following responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts payable
  • Manage GST/QST monthly returns
  • Monthly reconciliations
  • Establish relationships with vendors and assist with research and resolving issues and discrepancies
  • Cash management including assisting in the implementing the newly created foreign exchange hedging strategy
  • Preparation of weekly/monthly reports
  • Assist with month-end closing entries

In addition to the day-to-day responsibilities, there are projects that the candidate will participate in :

  • Expense report policy and improvement
  • Participate in an implementation of a new ERP
  • Participate in the annual audit (provide support documentation)
  • Other duties may be assigned, as required

Requirements and skills

  • Bilingual preferred (French and English)
  • Minimum 5 years experience in an accounting department
  • Accounting/business diploma/certificate or equivalent work experience
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and accounting ERP software
  • Well-organized with ability to prioritize
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $55,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
