Description
In the fixed term contract, the individual will be responsible for the creation, preparation, coordination and monitoring of comprehensive marketing plans for assigned products. Primarily entrusted with improving the competitive position of the assigned products in the market and observes closely the competitive situation, measuring the effectiveness of the planned strategies to assure that objectives of the assigned products are attained.
Essential Job Duties
- Contributes to cross functional local brand team in the development of annual brand plan. Utilizes Marketing and Sales Research, prepares annual marketing programs and tactics for assigned products, which include analyses of market situations, problems and opportunities, the preparation of promotional strategies, sales forecasts and market share objectives. Collaborates with Commercial Lead and the Local Brand team to establish sales and market share objectives for assigned products; develops programs to achieve these objectives, and monitors their execution. Employs all elements of the tactical plans as specified in the brands’ marketing plans.
- Determine effective marketing communication channels to raise awareness and understanding of the benefits of Astellas therapies for selected patient types, and developing and deploying effective tactics to achieve Marketing Plan objectives. Utilized omni-channel customer journey’s to ensure customers are receiving information in ways that are most useful to their tailored needs.
- Supports budget recommendations for assigned products and the ongoing management of these budgets to forecast each year. Reconciles budgets monthly and communicates any deviation from the annual plan to the Local Brand Team, and Commercial Lead.
- Targets 25% of their time in the field to obtain first hand evaluation of strategies and to keep abreast of changes in the marketplace
- Develops promotional materials and programs consistent with the Marketing Plan’s strategies and tactics to be used for the sole purpose of communicating to health care professionals the benefits and advantages of assigned products. Controls and reviews the effectiveness of the promotional plans on an ongoing basis and recommends changes as necessary to reach or improve upon the objectives.
- Ensures accuracy of scientific and promotional literature, and other elements associated with assigned products to assure conformance with the requirements of the Therapeutic Products Directorate of the Department of Health and Welfare, PAAB, Innovative Medicines Canada Code of Ethical Practices and Company policy.
- Collaborates with Medical Affairs to identify, design and deliver medical communications, advisory boards, medical education programs to deliver value to customer and support brand growth objectives.
- Delivers product / brand training to field force. Co-ordinates with Senior Brand Manager and Commercial Lead in the preparation of comprehensive training manuals and programs.
- Collaborates with Market Access team on development of pharmacoeconomic justifications and or analyses for federal/provincial and, if applicable, hospital jurisdictions.
- Attends all relevant medical conferences. Attends all sales and marketing meetings during the course of each year, presenting promotional strategies and marketing updates for assigned products when and where applicable.
- Interacts with Territory/Therapeutic Specialists, Finance, Regulatory, Operational Excellence, Supply Chain, Trade Relations, Corporate Communications and Medical areas of Astellas.
- Collaborates with Commercial Lead, Oncology and/or Senior Brand Manager on the planning, coordination and execution of other assigned special projects.
Requirements
- BA or B.Sc. degree required, MBA an asset
- Minimum four years of pharmaceutical industry with at least 3 years of brand management experience
- Minimum 2 years of Oncology therapeutic area experience
- Pharmaceutical sales is essential, specialty market experience is preferred
- Product launch experience is an asset
- Previous experience in Astellas’ therapeutic areas desirable
- Proven understanding of health care system
- Clearly demonstrated ability to create and execute marketing strategies in a competitive market
- Demonstrated understanding of how customers use information across all channels and ideally experience in leveraging multiple channels to achieve education objectives
- Strong agency management skills
- Strong team-building skills, a team-oriented approach, and supportive management style are required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills as well as good presentation skills required.
- Bilingual (French and English) capabilities would be an asset
- Travel: approx. up to 25%

- This hybrid position is based in Markham at the Astellas Pharma Canada Home Office and will require on-site work.
